Notice of Race 2004 Sandusky Sailing Club Interlake Fleet #1 Seasonal Series Racing SCHEDULE: Sailed according the annual season schedule as published by Sandusky Sailing Club. RULES: These races shall be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing, and the Sailing Instructions for regular series racing as published annually by Sandusky Sailing Club. ENTRY: Entry
is by skipper, not by boat, and each entry is by a single skipper, who
shall be a member in good standing of SSC and Interlake Fleet #1, and an
Active Member of The Interlake Sailing Class Association.
If a boat fails to check in as prescribed, she shall be burdened in the event of any resulting scoring discrepancy or dispute, but there shall be no other penalty, except that if repeated infractions by a skipper in a series cause hardship to the Race Committee, then after a warning, an additional infraction in the same series shall be cause for protest by the Race Committee, and that skipper may be disqualified after a hearing. At the discretion of the Fleet Captain, visiting class members, members’ guests, prospective members and other persons shall be welcomed to compete with the fleet as a skipper. Such persons’ finish place shall be recorded, but shall not be used for series scoring. HULL AND SAIL NUMBERS: Because entry is by skipper and not by hull or sail number, there shall be no obligation to use the same hull or sail number throughout the series. However, when a skipper displays a sail number different from a hull number qualifying him or her for class membership, he or she shall ensure that that sail number is unique in the fleet for that day, by temporarily altering his sail numbers or other means. If a skipper makes a good faith effort to do so, yet a conflict occurs, he shall receive a warning and no other penalty, but a habitual offender may be disqualified from any series in which such offenses occurred. CREW: There shall be no obligation to use the same crew member(s) or number of crew throughout the series, but when racing, no fewer than two persons capable of contributing materially to the safe operation of the boat shall be on board. SCORING: RRS
low point scoring shall be applied. Each skipper’s series score shall be
the total of the skipper’s race scores excluding a number of the skipper’s
worst scores. The number of scores excluded is the same for all skippers
entered in the series and shall be the largest whole number that is less
than half of the number of races scored for the series. (The result is
that the number of races counted is the same as the number of races needed
to qualify for an award – see AWARDS below.)
AWARDS: Awards shall be made according to the traditions and current practices of the Sandusky Sailing Club. To qualify for an award in a series, entry fees must be paid in full before the series ends, and a skipper must compete in more than half the races scored in the series. (Example A: Nine races scheduled minus two abandoned and not resailed = seven races scored, thus skippers must compete in at least 4 races, because that’s the smallest whole number greater than half of seven. Example B: Eight races scored, thus skippers must compete in at least 5 races, because that’s the smallest whole number greater than half of eight.) ###
